News from the industry vine this morning is that J.K. Rowling has officially signed a book deal with Little, Brown, and will soon be releasing her highly anticipated Harry Potter follow up.

She’s positioning it as a more adult-oriented novel, so my best guess is a grown-up Harry dealing with the evil of… well, whatever’s evil in the future wizarding world. But I’m pretty sure Voldemort’s dead. As in actually dead. As in there will be allusions to him but he’s not going to be a character. But that’s the literary analyst in me talking; tends to happen when I fanboy out like this… So, where can I pre-order?

Edit: Really, people, if it’s not a Harry Potter book, then don’t call it a “Harry Potter follow up.” It’s “a new book by the author of Harry Potter.” You get my hopes up for nothing.
